Story 1

<h3>14 students supported | 7K Swiss Francs invested</h3>Ankur was a global citizen, who was born in India. And as such, India remained close to his heart, as he saw the difference in opportunities and challenges that presented itself in the different countries he travelled to. AFW has a special place in its heart for the beautiful, talented and resourceful children from India, and with it the opportunity for impact and change possible by empowering them. “India has one of the youngest and biggest populations in the world, and a mix of cultures within its borders that drives an energy quite like nothing else. The young children in India will inevitably play a role in the future of humankind over the next century, and it is our duty to empower them”ANKUR FOR THE CHILDREN OF INDIA was the first cause supported by the association. We began in 2018 in collaboration with Mr. Radhakrishnan, trustee manager of Smt. RAJESWARI RADHAKRISHNAN CHARITABLE TRUST in India. The organisation helps disabled and underprivileged children from remote areas of India to find sponsors and receive an education.In April 2018 we have received a list of more than 200 children from various rural parts of India, who are in need of funds to strike out their tuition fees. We won’t hide that for us, the members of AFW was extremely difficult and emotional to select only a few of the children from that long list. After careful scrutiny based on scholar accomplishments and economic situations, we have selected 7 bright students to support in the academic year 2018/2019.In 2019 AFW decided to continue sponsoring the children of Smt.RAJESWARI RADHAKRISHNAN CHARITABLE TRUST in India. We have invested in another 7 boys and girls by helping them receive the funds required to pay their tuition fees. Success Story: Getzia Mary who got a Bachelor of Commerce seat in Chellammal Women's College. Getzia Mary is coming from a very poor family. But what is important to mention is that her community doesn’t allow girls to go out after maturity. Being at school protects Getzia of being a victim of an arranged marriage. Getzia Mary’s success story make us believe that we have the power to change worlds and to have an impact on children’s lives.

Driven by the belief that helping someone from our community has positive impacts on our own and everyone who surrounds us, AFW opine that we should give back to your community by supporting local bright students. AFW association in Ticino, Switzerland and most of our donors are indeed living here. That is how we started looking for meaningful causes to support in our region. We didn’t have to think twice when we found Rock. Rock is an 18 years old boy with incredible achievements and a musical talent that will hold your breath.Rock had a difficult upbringing as he experienced domestic violence which forces him to leave home at the age of 15 years old. Now Rock lives within the community of L’Istituto per Paolo Torriani in Mendrisio, Ticino where he is safe to study and play his favorite piano.AFW Rock with an annual scholarship of 960 Swiss Francs. The funds help Rock to pay for his school field trips, buy school materials and attend after school classes. Rock studies in Liceo Cantonale Mendrisio and shows in literature, and language. His goal is to continue his academic development as a law student in Switzerland.Every student with such clear and ambitious plans for his future deserves the right resources to fulfill his dreams. That is why the beginning of the scholastic year 2019/2020 AFW provided one Acer PC to Rock so he can continue pursuing a future of a lawyer.

<h3>5 Kids Supported | 5 PCs donated</h3>In a collaboration with L’Istituto per Paolo Torriani in Mendrisio in September 2019, AFW association donated 5 Acer Personal Computers that will be used by all children living in the institute.We worked in partnership with Acer computers to make this project successful.

<h3>10K Kids Supported | 4’000 Swiss Francs invested</h3>Ankur for the World’s young creative minds is a cause that aims to empower young children to develop their creativity while learning how to better work with others for a common goal.The cause funds are sponsoring the New Britain Museum of American Art art supplies used by visiting school art education programs.Around 180 school groups, representing more than 10,000 students, participate annually in museum studio activities to further art education for the greater Connecticut, USA community.On average each student requires around $0.40 in supplies to participate in the studio education activities.AFW supplies sponsorship amounts $4,000 USD. Supplies and materials include clay, paper, paint and other items which students use for art lessons provided by the museum.

<h3>47 Kids Supported | 2’100 Swiss Francs invested</h3>In October 2019, AFW with a collaboration with A KISS FOR CHILDREN E. V. started a project to build a Study Room and Computer Lab at DAK TO Educational Shelter for Ethnic Minority Girls in Dak To, Kon Tum Province, Central Vietnam. DAK TO Educational Shelter is a small, non-governmental shelter, founded 2012 by the Vietnamese Priest Nguyen Huu Tuyen. Currently the shelter is home and school to 47 girls aged 12 to 16 coming from different Ethnic Minority tribes.What does "Ethnic Minorities" mean?Mostly living along the border to Cambodia, Laos or China, these tribes legally don't belong to any country. Without papers and legal rights, the families have no access to public schools.The girls from DAK TO Shelter are mainly from the Ro-Ngao &amp; the Sedang Population, both Southern Vietnam Hill Tribes. The Sedang of Vietnam, numbering 153,000 &amp; the smaller Ro- Ngao (population of 18,000) are both part of the Mon-Khmer people. Their primary lan- guages are Sedang &amp; Rengao. When the girls arrive at the Shelter, they just speak the eth- nic languages of their tribes and therefore need to study Vietnamese to proceed with their further education. The girls, even at a young age, are aware that education will empower them to change their lives and the lives of their families. Besides their studies the girls manage their daily life by themselves. They do cooking, washing and keeping the Shelter clean. About the initiative:The current initiative is part of a project plan started by A Kiss for Children e. V. in 2018 in order to improve the living and study conditions at the DAK TO Educational Shelter. AFW and A Kiss for Children e V. join forces to build a brand new Study Room with a Computer Lab for the girls living and studying at DAK TO Shelter. AFW invested funds amount $2’200.00 USD

<h3>2 Students Supported | 1’100 Swiss Francs invested</h3>ANKUR FOR THE CHILDREN OF SOUTH AFRICA 2024 is an initiative from us enabled through our partnership with SHINE ACADEMIA a program ran by OSHUN South Africa.The SHINE ACADEMIA Program is a professionally run educational intervention for Grade 11 &amp; 12 learners, based at Groote Schuur High School, with the aim of becoming a renowned school of excellence in core academic areas such as Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, English Home Language and Afrikaans First Additional Language.SHINE ACADEMIA is a Mathematics and Science initiative which is aimed at providing learners with an opportunity to improve their academic results through a quality teaching experience in small intimate classes with an effective curriculum (IEB &amp; CAPS) which is in alignment with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED). SHINE ACADEMIA has become one of the prestigious and successful programs in Western Cape through the team’s concerted hard work, devotion, enthusiasm and passion for education and upliftment. Lessons are taught by proficient, experienced and committed educators who have produced excellent results over the past years. Our educators are past Principals, current Deputy Principals and Heads of Departments and they are recipients of accolades and awards. This initiative is aimed at providing educational support to learners, “catch up” and rebuild solid foundations/reinforce learning materials so that they can deliver their absolute best (significantly improve their results) and achieve their academic aspirations. In January 2025 we have received a list of 5 children from Shine Academia. We won’t hide that for us, the members of AFW was extremely difficult and emotional to select only a few of the children from that long list. Story 7

<h3>30 Students Supported | 12’000 Swiss Francs invested</h3>We started our partnership with EL Shaddai in 2022 and been continuing till now - sponsoring 10 kids per every year. El Shaddai began work in 1997 to give childhood back to the children on the streets and living in slums. Our first home, Victory House in Chapora, Goa started with six children. The numbers slowly grew with the magnitude of the problem.El Shaddai opened four homes in Goa between 1997 and 2002. But there’s only so many children they could reach with their homes. There were many more still in the streets, especially in the cities. So, in 2003 they have opened the first Shelter in the capital city of Panjim. Since then, more shelters were in the commercial capital of Margao and the port town of Vasco. These shelters provide direct support to children at particular risk in these cities.Through the shelters, El Shaddai could provide children on the street a safe place to rest, have a shower and a hot meal. The Intention, through the shelters is to first tackle the basics but to gradually get the children to take up education by enrolling them in government schools in the locality.
